There is know doubt that it can be really hard to build muscle, if you don't know what you are doing.

My first question to you is what is your body type? If you are naturally a skinny guy you will have to play by another set of rules.

Firstly, a couple of questions to ask yourself...

  • Do you hit a point through a set and wonder you can get those last two reps out?
  • Do people stop and check you out when your half way through a set?
  • How do you treat your workouts, like a job or a hobby?

Basically, most people who work out in the gym barely break a sweat. Have a look next time your there. They are generally checking there own form out in the mirror, or the pretty lady's form on the other side of the gym.

They haven't got themselves into the zone, are not really focused, and don't have that desire to push themselves to there limits

  1. Treat every set as if it's your last set for the workout.
  2. Treat every single rep as if your mother's life depended on it
  3. Always use a stop watch to time your rest periods between sets, be honest!!
  4. Try and where a sweater so you don't keep checking yourself out in the mirror, Do that at home
  5. Wear a head set that tells others 'do not disturb.' As to keep in the zone.
  6. Only work out with like minded individuals who are motivated, and are prepared to push you and them hard!!

Next point....You have to give your muscles a reason to grow, or they won't. As simple as that.

Now only use one compound exercise per major muscle group and go for a 5% increase in weight every week.   2. VOLUME. The idea here is, you have to expose you body to as many sets as possible, in the shortest period of time. What this will do is place your muscles under a ton of tension which will result your untrained muscle fiber being retrained which will result in fast muscle growth! The goal here is to find the optimum balance of work and time. Lift heavy weights with short breaks between sets.
